Sole Design Matched to How You Enter the Ground

Attack angle and sole width determine how forgiving a fairway wood is on shots struck slightly thin or slightly fat. Steeper attack angles generally pair well with a narrower, more rounded sole that slides through turf; sweeping attack angles can carry a wider sole without losing speed to turf drag.

Loft Selection

Fairway wood lofts vary more between manufacturers than iron lofts do — we compare actual launch and spin rather than trusting the number stamped on the sole.

Sole Width & Camber

A wider, more cambered sole resists digging on firm ground; a narrower sole suits players who already deliver a shallow, sweeping strike.

Shaft Weight & Length

Lighter shafts can add clubhead speed but sometimes cost control off the deck; we test both directions against your actual strike consistency.
